Ethanol has lower energy density than pure petrol. In practical terms, drivers may notice more trips to the pump, weaker acceleration, and lower km/l even when the fuel price is similar. Owners on forums like Team-BHP have logged real examples: a 2017 sedan dropping from roughly 12-13 km/l in the city to 9 km/l, and a small hatchback going from 17 km/l to under 15 km/l after switching to higher ethanol blends.
Older vehicles, heavily used two-wheelers, and cars not tuned for higher ethanol content can feel the effect more sharply. That is why discussions on fuel efficiency and compatibility are appearing so often in online forums and search traffic.
